Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and energetic Warehouse Picker to join our dynamic team at our Rivière du Rempart distribution facility. As a Warehouse Picker, you will be an integral part of our logistics operations, responsible for accurately and efficiently selecting products from our warehouse shelves based on incoming orders. This role is critical to ensuring that our stores are consistently stocked with the items our customers need, maintaining the fresh and diverse product range Winners’s is known for. You will navigate our warehouse using various equipment (such as pallet jacks or trolleys), meticulously pick items, verify quantities, and prepare them for shipment. Key Responsibilities
- Accurately pick and retrieve products from warehouse locations according to order sheets or scanner instructions, ensuring correct item and quantity selection.
- Verify product quantities against order specifications to prevent errors and discrepancies, contributing to high inventory accuracy.
- Safely operate various warehouse equipment such as manual pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other material handling tools, following all operational guidelines.
- Organize and consolidate picked items onto pallets or into designated staging areas, ensuring proper packaging and labeling for efficient loading and dispatch.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times, adhering strictly to all company safety protocols and procedures.
- Assist with periodic inventory counts, stock rotation, and product replenishment as required, contributing to accurate stock management.
- Identify and promptly report any damaged products, discrepancies in inventory, or safety hazards to supervisors.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments to meet daily picking targets and overall operational goals.
- Perform other general warehouse duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to contribute to the overall efficiency of the distribution center.
Required Skills
- Excellent attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in picking, counting, and verifying items.
- Good physical stamina and the ability to lift, carry, push, and move packages weighing up to 25 kg regularly throughout the workday.
- Reliable, punctual, and possessing a strong work ethic with a commitment to team success and meeting deadlines.
- Ability to read and understand order forms, follow verbal instructions, and work independently.
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills for verifying orders, reading labels, and performing simple calculations.
- A strong commitment to workplace safety and a willingness to adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (6-12 months) in a warehouse, logistics, distribution, or similar picking/packing role.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) or handheld scanning devices.
- Experience operating manual or electric pallet jacks, or other basic material handling equipment.
- A valid Mauritian driving license (though not strictly required, it can be an asset for potential future roles within the company).
