Job Description
Are you eager to launch your career in environmental science and make a tangible difference in the conservation of Zanzibar’s vital water resources? The Institute of Marine Sciences (IMS) is seeking a motivated and reliable Entry-Level Water Sampling Field Aide to join our dedicated research team based in Kiponda, Zanzibar City. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals with a strong work ethic and a genuine interest in environmental monitoring, offering hands-on experience in field data collection and an introduction to marine science research.
As a Water Sampling Field Aide, you will play a crucial role in our ongoing projects by assisting researchers and senior technicians in the systematic collection of water samples from various marine and freshwater environments across Zanzibar. This includes coastal waters, lagoons, wells, and other relevant sites. Your daily activities will involve preparing sampling equipment, accurately collecting samples according to established protocols, proper labeling and documentation, and ensuring the safe transportation of samples to the laboratory for analysis. You will be an integral part of a team dedicated to understanding water quality dynamics, identifying potential pollutants, and contributing to the health of Zanzibar’s ecosystems and its people. This entry-level position is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, is meticulous, and is keen to learn practical scientific methods in a dynamic setting. Full training will be provided, making this a perfect stepping stone for a career in environmental research or conservation. We value enthusiasm, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to precision in all tasks.
