Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain robust web applications and services using modern web technologies.
- Collaborate effectively with academic staff, students, administrative departments, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and define project scope.
- Implement responsive and accessible web designs to ensure optimal user experience across various devices and browsers.
- Write clean, well-documented, efficient, and maintainable code adhering to established best practices and coding standards.
- Integrate new web applications seamlessly with existing university systems and third-party APIs.
- Perform routine maintenance, proactive troubleshooting, and timely bug fixing for existing web properties and applications.
- Contribute significantly to the continuous improvement of the university's digital presence, with a strong focus on accessibility, security, and performance optimization.
- Stay updated with emerging web technologies, industry trends, and best practices to recommend and implement innovative solutions.
- Actively participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and ensuring code quality across the team.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in front-end web development languages: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+).
- Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks/libraries (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js).
- Solid understanding of back-end development with languages/frameworks such as Node.js, Python (Django/Flask), PHP (Laravel/Symfony), or Java (Spring Boot).
- Familiarity with relational and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
- Extensive experience with version control systems, particularly Git.
- Strong understanding of responsive design principles and mobile-first development methodologies.
- Knowledge of RESTful APIs and how to effectively integrate and consume them.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and meticulous attention to detail.
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a dynamic team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Experience with content management systems (CMS) like WordPress, Drupal, or Joomla.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their services.
- In-depth understanding of UI/UX principles and best practices, including user research and wireframing.
- Experience with web accessibility standards (WCAG) and SEO principles.
- Knowledge of server management (Linux environments) and deployment pipelines (CI/CD).
