Key Responsibilities
- Direct and coordinate all inbound and outbound truck and trailer movements within the yard.
- Manage yard inventory, ensuring trailers are accurately spotted, tracked, and organized.
- Utilize yard management systems (YMS) or similar software to monitor and optimize yard flow.
- Conduct regular yard checks to verify equipment location, status, and availability.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, dispatchers, warehouse staff, and management regarding yard activities and potential issues.
- Enforce strict safety procedures and protocols within the yard, conducting safety briefings as needed.
- Inspect trailers for proper loading/unloading readiness and report any damages or maintenance needs.
- Prioritize trailer movements based on operational needs, shipping schedules, and dock availability.
- Maintain accurate records of all yard activities, including arrivals, departures, and trailer movements.
- Assist in problem-solving and troubleshooting operational delays or discrepancies.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a logistics, transportation, or yard management role.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with yard management systems (YMS) or inventory tracking software.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment (e.g., yard hostlers, spotter trucks) is a significant plus.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety protocols.

- Physical ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred.
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) for operating yard hostlers/spotter trucks.
- Certification in forklift operation or other material handling equipment.
