Job Description

Kiguri Lodge is seeking a passionate and certified Part-Time Yoga Instructor to join our wellness team. This unique role offers the opportunity to lead yoga sessions amidst the breathtaking natural beauty of Lake Kivu, providing our diverse range of guests with an enriching and restorative experience. As a Yoga Instructor, you will be instrumental in enhancing our guests’ stay by guiding them through practices that promote physical well-being, mental clarity, and spiritual balance. You will design and deliver engaging classes suitable for various skill levels, from beginners to experienced practitioners, ensuring each session is both challenging and accessible. We are looking for an individual who embodies the spirit of wellness, possesses excellent communication skills, and can create an inspiring and supportive atmosphere. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver engaging yoga classes (e.g., Hatha, Vinyasa, Restorative) for individuals and groups.
  • Assess participants' skill levels and physical limitations to provide modifications and adjustments as needed.
  • Create a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment for all guests, fostering a sense of community.
  • Maintain an updated knowledge of yoga techniques, philosophies, and trends.
  • Promote the benefits of yoga and other wellness activities offered at the lodge.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and proper setup of the yoga space and equipment before and after classes.
  • Engage with guests to understand their wellness goals and provide personalized recommendations where appropriate.

Required Skills

  • Certified Yoga Instructor (RYT 200-hour minimum or equivalent).
  • Minimum 2 years of proven experience teaching yoga to diverse groups.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt teaching styles to accommodate various levels and needs.
  • Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and yoga philosophy.
  • Fluent in English; Kinyarwanda proficiency is a significant advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to create a calming and inspiring atmosphere.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional certifications in specialized yoga styles (e.g., Prenatal, Kids Yoga, Yin Yoga).
  • Experience working in a hospitality or retreat setting.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Knowledge of other wellness practices such as meditation or mindfulness.
  • Proficiency in French.
