Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine grounds maintenance tasks, including mowing, trimming, edging, weeding, and pruning of shrubs and trees.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of landscaping equipment, such as lawnmowers, string trimmers, blowers, and hand tools, ensuring their proper use and care.
  • Monitor and manage irrigation systems, ensuring optimal watering schedules and performing minor repairs as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of all outdoor areas, including pathways, parking lots, and immediate surroundings of buildings.
  • Assist with seasonal plantings, mulching, and general garden care to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the facility.
  • Identify and report any pest or disease issues affecting plants and turf, and implement appropriate treatments under supervision.
  • Conduct minor repairs to fences, gates, outdoor furniture, and other grounds features.
  • Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations and company policies, especially when operating machinery or handling chemicals.
  • Remove debris, litter, and other waste from grounds daily to maintain a pristine appearance.
  • Participate in snow removal and de-icing activities during winter months, if applicable.
  • Collaborate with the facility management team to plan and execute larger grounds improvement projects.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or a related outdoor maintenance role (minimum 1 year).
  • Proficiency in operating various landscaping equipment and hand tools safely and effectively.
  • Basic knowledge of plant care, lawn maintenance, and irrigation systems.
  • Strong understanding and commitment to workplace safety protocols.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods, in various weather conditions.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks independently.
  • A keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing grounds maintenance needs.
  • Reliable, punctual, and a strong team player.
  • Valid driver's license (preferably code 8/B).

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification in horticulture, landscaping, or a related field.
  • Experience with minor equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Knowledge of local plant species and environmental conditions in Lesotho.
  • First Aid certification.
