Job Description

This role requires a keen ear, an analytical mind, and a relentless drive to unearth the next big thing in music. As an A&R Talent Scout for Career.zycto, you will be on the front lines, identifying, evaluating, and developing emerging artists across various genres. You’ll immerse yourself in the vibrant local music scene of Eastdale, Montgomery, and beyond, attending live performances, scouting digital platforms, and networking with industry professionals to spot promising acts. Key Responsibilities

  • Actively scout for new and emerging musical talent through live shows, digital platforms, and industry networks.
  • Evaluate artist submissions, demos, and online presence to identify potential signings.
  • Conduct thorough due diligence on prospective artists, assessing their musicality, marketability, and potential for growth.
  • Attend local, regional, and national music events, showcases, and festivals to discover talent.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with artists, managers, producers, and other industry professionals.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations on potential artists for internal review, outlining strengths, weaknesses, and market potential.
  • Stay current with music industry trends, new technologies, and competitor activities.
  • Collaborate with the A&R team to develop artist development strategies and creative direction.
  • Negotiate potential deals and contracts with artists and their representatives, under guidance.
  • Provide constructive feedback and guidance to artists on their material and career trajectory.

Required Skills

  • Proven ear for identifying commercially viable and artistically compelling musical talent.
  • Excellent knowledge of various music genres, current trends, and the independent music scene.
  • Strong networking and relationship-building abilities within the music industry.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a pipeline of potential artists.
  • Proficiency in digital scouting tools and music streaming platforms.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel frequently for scouting purposes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Music Business, Arts Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Prior experience in A&R, talent scouting, music management, or a similar role within the entertainment industry.
  • Demonstrated track record of discovering or developing successful artists.
  • Familiarity with contract negotiation principles.
