Job Description

We are seeking dedicated and experienced Bus Drivers to join our team in Ngororero, Western Province, Rwanda. This is a full-time, on-site position vital to the seamless operation of public transport within the Ngororero district and its connecting routes. As a Bus Driver with RFTC, you will be more than just a driver; you will be a frontline ambassador for our organization, responsible for safely and efficiently transporting passengers to their destinations.

Your primary role will involve operating public buses along designated routes, strictly adhering to timetables and all traffic regulations. We are looking for individuals who possess not only exceptional driving skills but also a strong sense of responsibility, punctuality, and a genuine commitment to passenger safety and comfort. You will be expected to conduct routine pre-trip and post-trip inspections, ensuring the vehicle is in optimal condition for service and reporting any mechanical issues promptly.

Beyond driving, this role requires excellent customer service skills. You will interact daily with a diverse range of passengers, assist them with inquiries, collect fares, and ensure a pleasant travel experience. Maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the bus will also be part of your routine duties. The ideal candidate will have a clean driving record, a valid Class D Rwandan driving license, and a minimum of three years of professional bus driving experience, particularly within a public transport setting. Knowledge of Ngororero’s roads and the surrounding Western Province is highly advantageous. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate public buses safely and efficiently along designated routes and schedules.
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, including checking tires, brakes, lights, and fluid levels.
  • Ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers, adhering to all traffic laws and company safety protocols.
  • Collect fares accurately and issue tickets as required, maintaining proper records.
  • Provide excellent customer service, assisting passengers with inquiries and ensuring a positive travel experience.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of the bus interior and exterior.
  • Report any mechanical defects, incidents, accidents, or delays to the appropriate authorities and management promptly.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
  • Manage passenger boarding and alighting processes efficiently, including assisting individuals with special needs.

Required Skills

  • Valid Class D Rwandan driving license.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional bus driving experience.
  • Clean driving record with no major violations.
  • Thorough knowledge of Ngororero district and Western Province road networks.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills in Kinyarwanda.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Demonstrated commitment to passenger safety and punctuality.
  • Basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting knowledge.
  • Excellent spatial awareness and defensive driving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience specifically with public transport operations in Rwanda.
  • Additional proficiency in English or French.
  • Certificate in customer service or defensive driving.
  • First Aid certification.
