Key Responsibilities
- Interpret and work from detailed technical drawings, blueprints, and verbal instructions to create custom furniture pieces.
- Select and prepare appropriate timber and other materials, ensuring quality and minimizing waste.
- Accurately measure, cut, shape, and assemble wooden components using hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery.
- Master various joinery techniques (e.g., dovetail, mortise and tenon, biscuit, dowel) to ensure structural integrity and aesthetic appeal.
- Install hardware, such as hinges, handles, and drawer slides, with precision.
- Perform sanding, finishing, and polishing to achieve high-quality surface treatments.
- Conduct quality checks on all completed pieces to ensure they meet design specifications and company standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment in the workshop.
- Collaborate effectively with designers, project managers, and other team members.
- Undertake repairs and restoration of existing furniture as required.
- Adhere strictly to project deadlines and budget constraints.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
- Expertise in various woodworking machinery (table saw, planer, jointer, router, sanders).
- Strong command of hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
- Demonstrable knowledge of different wood types, their properties, and best uses.
- Excellent joinery skills and an understanding of structural integrity.
