Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a highly strategic and visionary Director of Learning & Development to lead our talent enhancement initiatives. Based in Harare, Zimbabwe, this pivotal role will be instrumental in shaping our organizational culture of continuous learning, professional growth, and leadership excellence. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a holistic Learning & Development strategy aligned with Career.zycto’s strategic goals and values.
  • Conduct comprehensive training needs assessments to identify skill gaps and development priorities across all levels of the organization.
  • Design, develop, and implement engaging and effective learning programs, including leadership development, technical skills training, soft skills, and compliance courses.
  • Oversee the entire learning lifecycle, from curriculum design and content creation to delivery (in-person, virtual, blended) and post-training evaluation.
  • Champion and embed a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and knowledge sharing throughout the company.
  • Manage the L&D budget, resources, and external vendor relationships, ensuring cost-effectiveness and high-quality solutions.
  • Establish robust metrics and reporting mechanisms to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of L&D initiatives on employee performance and business outcomes.
  • Collaborate with senior management and HR Business Partners to integrate L&D programs with performance management, talent acquisition, and succession planning processes.
  • Research and implement best practices, emerging technologies, and innovative methodologies in learning and development.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a potential future L&D team, fostering a high-performance and collaborative environment.

Required Skills

  • Proven expertise in designing, developing, and implementing large-scale L&D programs and strategies.
  • Strong understanding of adult learning theories, instructional design principles, and various learning methodologies.
  • Exceptional leadership and management skills, with the ability to influence and inspire at all organizational levels.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Proficiency in learning technologies (LMS platforms, e-learning tools, virtual collaboration platforms).
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to translate business needs into effective learning solutions.
  • Analytical skills to measure L&D effectiveness and demonstrate ROI.
  • Budget management and vendor negotiation capabilities.
  • High degree of adaptability and resilience in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, or a related field.
  • Certification in instructional design, coaching, or psychometric assessment.
  • Experience in a consulting or professional services environment.
  • Familiarity with talent management software and HRIS integration.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing innovative learning technologies and digital learning solutions.
  • Experience working in a multicultural and diverse environment.
