Career.zycto is excited to partner with a leading agricultural enterprise in Alt-Oberhausen, Oberhausen, to find a dedicated and experienced Livestock Handler. This full-time position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the well-being and productivity of various farm animals within a modern and well-managed facility. As a Livestock Handler, you will be an integral part of a close-knit team, responsible for the daily care, feeding, and overall health management of livestock, which may include cattle, pigs, and poultry depending on the farm’s specific operations. This role demands a strong work ethic, exceptional attention to detail, and genuine compassion for animals, ensuring their comfort and optimal health at all times. You will be expected to meticulously observe animal behavior for any signs of illness, injury, or distress, promptly reporting your findings to farm management for appropriate action. Maintaining clean, safe, and stimulating living environments for all animals is paramount, requiring regular cleaning, bedding changes, and facility maintenance. Furthermore, you will assist with various essential farm operations, including moving animals between enclosures, assisting during veterinary checks, and ensuring proper biosecurity measures are strictly followed to prevent the spread of disease. The ideal candidate will possess a foundational understanding of animal husbandry principles, a proactive and problem-solving attitude, and the physical stamina required for agricultural work, which often involves working outdoors and performing physically demanding tasks. Key Responsibilities

  • Daily feeding and watering of various livestock (e.g., cattle, pigs, poultry) according to established schedules and dietary requirements.
  • Monitoring animal health and well-being, identifying and reporting any signs of illness, injury, or distress to farm management.
  • Cleaning and maintaining animal living areas, ensuring hygienic and comfortable conditions.
  • Assisting with animal handling tasks such as moving, sorting, and loading livestock safely and humanely.
  • Operating and maintaining basic farm equipment used in livestock management (e.g., feed mixers, skid steers).
  • Administering medications or vaccinations under the guidance of veterinarians or farm management.
  • Maintaining accurate records of feeding, health treatments, and animal movements.
  • Assisting with breeding, birthing, and weaning processes as required.
  • Adhering strictly to animal welfare regulations, biosecurity protocols, and safety guidelines.
  • Performing general farm duties as assigned, contributing to overall farm operations.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in livestock handling and animal care.
  • Strong understanding of animal behavior and welfare principles.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and working in various weather conditions.
