Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive legal research using various online databases (e.g., LexisNexis, Westlaw), statutes, case law, and academic articles to support ongoing cases and legal inquiries.
- Summarise complex legal documents, case precedents, and legislative changes into concise and easily digestible formats for solicitors.
- Assist in the preparation of legal documents, briefs, memos, and reports, ensuring accuracy and adherence to specific formatting requirements.
- Maintain and organise electronic and physical case files, ensuring all research materials are properly indexed and easily retrievable.
- Monitor legal news and developments relevant to current cases and areas of practice within the firm.
- Verify factual information and citations in legal documents to ensure accuracy and credibility.
- Collaborate with legal professionals through virtual communication channels to understand research needs and provide timely updates.
- Manage multiple research assignments simultaneously, prioritising tasks to meet deadlines effectively.
- Assist with other administrative tasks as needed to support the legal team's operations.
Required Skills
- Proven experience with legal research methodologies and tools (LexisNexis, Westlaw, or similar).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to distil complex information clearly.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, capable of evaluating legal arguments and precedents.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
