Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert chairside assistance to dentists and hygienists during a wide range of dental procedures, including restorative, endodontic, prosthetic, surgical, and preventative treatments.
- Prepare and maintain the clinical environment, ensuring all instruments, materials, and equipment are sterilized, disinfected, and ready for use in compliance with cross-infection control guidelines.
- Accurately record patient information, treatment plans, and notes using digital dental software systems.
- Process and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) while adhering to radiation safety protocols.
- Manage appointment schedules, patient records, and consent forms effectively.
- Offer post-operative care instructions and advice to patients, ensuring their comfort and understanding.
- Assist with stock management, ordering, and inventory control of dental supplies and instruments.
- Undertake general administrative tasks to support the efficient running of the dental practice.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality and adhere to all relevant professional and ethical guidelines.
Required Skills
- Qualified Dental Nurse certification (GDC registration desirable)
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Dental Assistant, preferably in a mixed practice setting
- Proficiency in chairside assistance for both general and surgical dental procedures
- Excellent understanding of cross-infection control and health and safety regulations
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate approach to patient care
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a cohesive team
- Proficient in using dental practice management software (e.g., SOE, Dentally)
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional qualifications in radiography, impression taking, or oral health education
- Experience with specialist dental software systems
- Knowledge of CQC regulations and compliance standards
