Key Responsibilities
- Participate actively in comprehensive safety training programs provided by Career.zycto.
- Assist in conducting regular workplace inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and non-compliance issues.
- Support the development and implementation of safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Help investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses, documenting findings and recommending preventative measures.
- Assist in maintaining accurate records of safety inspections, incident reports, and training sessions.
- Promote a positive safety culture among employees through clear communication and awareness campaigns.
- Collaborate with departmental managers to ensure compliance with local occupational health and safety regulations.
- Aid in preparing and delivering basic safety inductions and training sessions for new hires and existing staff.
- Monitor the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety protocols.
- Contribute to emergency preparedness planning and drills.
Required Skills
- Strong passion for workplace safety and a commitment to continuous learning.
- Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English and French (Mauritian context).
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- A proactive attitude and willingness to take initiative.
- Ability to follow instructions and absorb new information quickly.
Preferred Qualifications
- A diploma or certificate in a related field (e.g., environmental science, engineering, or health studies).
- Previous experience in a role requiring attention to detail or adherence to procedures.
- Familiarity with local health and safety regulations in Mauritius (OSHA, etc.).
- First Aid and CPR certification is a plus.
