Breezes Beach Club & Spa Zanzibar is seeking a dynamic Sports Activity Coordinator to join our vibrant team in Bwejuu. This unique role offers the flexibility to manage and lead a diverse range of recreational activities, ensuring our guests, from active adventurers to leisure seekers, find joy and engagement throughout their stay. You will be instrumental in designing, promoting, and executing an exciting calendar of sports events, fitness classes, and outdoor games, leveraging Zanzibar’s stunning natural environment. The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills, a proactive approach to guest interaction, and the ability to adapt activities to suit varying age groups and fitness levels. You’ll be the face of our recreational offerings, contributing significantly to the overall guest satisfaction and the lively atmosphere of our resort. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, organize, and lead a diverse calendar of sports and recreational activities, including but not limited to beach volleyball, football, tennis, water aerobics, yoga, and various beach games.
- Proactively engage with guests to promote activities, gather feedback, and ensure high levels of participation and satisfaction.
- Manage and maintain sports equipment, ensuring safety standards and availability for all activities.
- Train and supervise other activity staff or interns as needed, ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality experiences.
- Coordinate with other resort departments (e.g., F&B, Front Office, Spa) to integrate activities seamlessly into the guest experience.
- Monitor activity schedules and guest attendance, adapting offerings based on popularity and guest demographics.
- Ensure all activities adhere to safety regulations and resort policies, conducting risk assessments where necessary.
- Prepare daily and weekly reports on activity participation and guest feedback.
- Assist in the development of new and innovative recreational programs to enhance guest offerings.
- Maintain a friendly, professional, and enthusiastic demeanor at all times.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in sports coordination, recreation management, or a similar guest-facing role within the hospitality industry.
- Strong proficiency in organizing and leading group activities for diverse age groups.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a natural ability to connect with people from various cultural backgrounds.
- High level of energy, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays, in a resort environment.
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Fluency in English (written and spoken).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Sports Management, Recreation, Hospitality, or a related field.
- Additional language proficiency (e.g., Swahili, French, German).
- Certifications in specific sports coaching, fitness instruction, or lifeguarding.
