As our Equal Opportunity Officer, you will be at the forefront of shaping and implementing strategies that ensure equal treatment and opportunities across all aspects of employment, from recruitment and hiring to promotion, compensation, and professional development. You will serve as a trusted resource and expert, guiding management and staff on complex issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). This role requires a proactive approach to identifying potential barriers to equity and developing innovative solutions to overcome them.

You will be responsible for conducting thorough investigations into discrimination, harassment, and retaliation complaints, maintaining strict confidentiality, and ensuring due process for all parties involved. Your ability to mediate conflicts, provide impartial guidance, and facilitate constructive dialogue will be critical. Furthermore, you will play a key role in developing and delivering engaging training programs designed to raise awareness, foster understanding, and promote a culture of respect throughout the organization.

The ideal candidate will not only be well-versed in German and European equal opportunity legislation but also possess a keen understanding of the evolving landscape of DEI best practices. You will be instrumental in analyzing our workforce data to identify trends, measure the effectiveness of our initiatives, and recommend data-driven improvements. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor equal opportunity policies and procedures in compliance with German and EU laws.
  • Conduct confidential investigations into complaints of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, providing objective findings and recommendations.
  • Serve as a primary resource and advisor to employees and management on all matters related to equal opportunity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Design and deliver comprehensive training programs on anti-discrimination, harassment prevention, and unconscious bias.
  • Analyze workforce data to identify trends, assess the effectiveness of DEI initiatives, and recommend strategic improvements.
  • Collaborate with HR and legal teams to ensure all employment practices align with equal opportunity principles.
  • Stay current with relevant legislation, regulations, and best practices in equal opportunity and diversity management.
  • Promote an inclusive organizational culture through awareness campaigns and proactive engagement initiatives.
  • Prepare and submit reports on equal opportunity activities and outcomes to senior leadership.

Required Skills

  • Proven expertise in German and European anti-discrimination laws (e.g., AGG).
  • Strong investigative and analytical skills with the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, in German and English.
  • Demonstrated ability to mediate conflicts and facilitate difficult conversations constructively.
  • Experience in developing and delivering engaging training and educational programs.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting related to workforce diversity metrics.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • High degree of empathy, integrity, and ethical conduct.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Human Resources, Law, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • Certification in Diversity & Inclusion, Mediation, or HR Compliance.
  • Experience working in a complex, multi-cultural organizational environment.
  • Familiarity with HR information systems (HRIS) and learning management systems (LMS).
  • Prior experience as an Equal Opportunity Officer or similar dedicated DEI role.
