Job Description
Are you an adventurous and resilient individual with a strong work ethic, seeking a unique opportunity to contribute to South Africa’s vibrant marine industry? Quest Staffing Solutions, on behalf of our esteemed client, is actively recruiting for dedicated and physically fit individuals to join their offshore fishing operations team as Seasonal Fishermen. This is an exceptional opportunity for those eager to experience the challenges and rewards of working at sea, harvesting marine resources in accordance with sustainable practices.
This seasonal role demands a high level of commitment, resilience, and a cooperative spirit. As a Fisherman in offshore operations, you will be an integral part of a close-knit crew, working long hours in dynamic and sometimes challenging marine conditions. Your days will be physically demanding, involving tasks ranging from deploying and retrieving fishing gear, such as nets, lines, or traps, to sorting, cleaning, and processing the catch onboard, ensuring its quality and proper storage. You will also be involved in maintaining fishing equipment and assisting with general vessel upkeep, contributing to the smooth and efficient running of operations. The offshore environment is dynamic, requiring quick thinking and adaptability to weather changes and fishing conditions.
Safety is paramount in all our client’s operations, and you will be expected to adhere strictly to all safety protocols, maritime regulations, and environmental guidelines to ensure the well-being of yourself, your fellow crew members, and the marine ecosystem. Comprehensive safety briefings and ongoing training will be provided to foster a culture of vigilance and responsibility.
Successful candidates will possess a natural aptitude for practical work, an ability to adapt quickly to changing environments, and a robust physical constitution capable of enduring long shifts and strenuous activities. While prior experience in commercial fishing, marine environments, or other physically demanding outdoor work is highly advantageous, we also encourage applications from motivated individuals who demonstrate the right attitude, willingness to learn, and unwavering commitment to teamwork. Training and mentorship will be provided to ensure you are well-equipped to handle the multifaceted responsibilities of the role and thrive in an offshore setting.
This position offers more than just a job; it offers an immersive experience into the heart of South Africa’s commercial fishing industry. You will develop invaluable skills in seamanship, marine biology, and sustainable fishing practices, build lasting camaraderie with your crew members who often become a second family at sea, and contribute directly to the sustainable supply of high-quality seafood to markets. If you thrive in demanding environments, possess an unwavering dedication to safety, and are ready for a seasonal adventure that promises both challenge and immense satisfaction at sea, we invite you to cast your net with us.
