Job Description

Are you an experienced instructional designer with a passion for creating engaging and impactful learning experiences? Do you thrive in a collaborative yet autonomous home-based environment? Capita is seeking a dedicated and innovative Home-Based Learning Design Partner to join our dynamic team, supporting various client projects and internal initiatives. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in conceptualising, designing, and developing high-quality digital and blended learning solutions from the comfort of your home office in the Shere, Surrey area. You will work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs), project managers, and key stakeholders to translate complex information into clear, compelling, and measurable learning outcomes. This role requires a blend of creative flair, pedagogical expertise, and strong project management skills to ensure all learning interventions are learner-centric, align with strategic objectives, and adhere to industry best practices. You will be at the forefront of leveraging new technologies and innovative approaches to deliver a superior learning experience, making a significant impact on performance and capability across our diverse portfolio. We are looking for someone who is not just a designer but a true partner, capable of guiding stakeholders through the design process, providing expert advice, and ultimately delivering learning solutions that truly resonate and drive desired behavioural changes. Your ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and communicate effectively in a virtual setting will be key to your success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough learning needs analyses to identify performance gaps and determine appropriate learning solutions.
  • Design and develop engaging and effective instructional materials, including e-learning modules, blended learning programmes, workshops, job aids, and other performance support tools.
  • Collaborate closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather content, validate accuracy, and ensure alignment with learning objectives.
  • Apply instructional design methodologies (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) and adult learning principles to create learner-centric experiences.
  • Project manage learning initiatives from inception to delivery, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
  • Integrate multimedia elements, interactive activities, and assessment strategies into learning content.
  • Stay current with emerging learning technologies, trends, and best practices in instructional design and adult education.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of learning solutions and iterate designs based on feedback and performance data.
  • Communicate complex ideas clearly and persuasively to diverse stakeholders.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in instructional design or learning experience design.
  • Proven proficiency with authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, Rise 360, or Adobe Captivate.
  • Strong understanding of adult learning theories and instructional design models.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to tailor content for various audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines.
  • Experience working with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Education Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience in a consulting environment or supporting diverse client projects.
  • Knowledge of graphic design principles and multimedia development tools.
  • Certification in project management (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP).
  • Experience with accessibility standards for digital learning content (e.g., WCAG).
