Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain occupational health and safety programs and policies.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and non-compliance issues.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, determining root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant provincial (WorkSafeBC) and federal health and safety regulations.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to management and employees on safety best practices.
- Develop and deliver health and safety training programs to all levels of staff.
- Manage and maintain comprehensive safety documentation and records.
- Collaborate with various departments to integrate safety into all operational processes.
- Monitor and report on health and safety performance metrics.
- Stay updated on changes in health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
Required Skills
- Minimum 4 years of experience in a dedicated Health and Safety role.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian (specifically BC) occupational health and safety regulations.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing safety management systems.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to conduct thorough investigations and perform root cause analysis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various sites within the Richmond area.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Eligibility for visa sponsorship (if applicable).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) or NCSO (National Construction Safety Officer).
- Experience in diverse industry settings (e.g., construction, manufacturing, logistics).
- Familiarity with ISO 45001 standards.
