As a Health and Safety Officer, you will play a pivotal role in promoting a risk-aware culture, conducting regular site inspections, and providing expert advice to management and employees on all aspects of occupational health and safety. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain occupational health and safety programs and policies.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and non-compliance issues.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, determining root causes and recommending corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant provincial (WorkSafeBC) and federal health and safety regulations.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to management and employees on safety best practices.
  • Develop and deliver health and safety training programs to all levels of staff.
  • Manage and maintain comprehensive safety documentation and records.
  • Collaborate with various departments to integrate safety into all operational processes.
  • Monitor and report on health and safety performance metrics.
  • Stay updated on changes in health and safety legislation and industry best practices.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in a dedicated Health and Safety role.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian (specifically BC) occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing safety management systems.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to conduct thorough investigations and perform root cause analysis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various sites within the Richmond area.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Eligibility for visa sponsorship (if applicable).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional certification such as CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) or NCSO (National Construction Safety Officer).
  • Experience in diverse industry settings (e.g., construction, manufacturing, logistics).
  • Familiarity with ISO 45001 standards.
