Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage all day-to-day site operations, ensuring efficient progress and adherence to project timelines.
  • Implement and enforce rigorous health and safety standards, conducting regular inspections and promoting a safety-first culture.
  • Manage and coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and site personnel, ensuring optimal performance and compliance.
  • Monitor project budget and resources, identifying potential variances and implementing corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate site records, including progress reports, daily logs, and quality assurance documentation.
  • Liaise effectively with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure clear communication and resolve issues promptly.
  • Conduct quality control inspections to ensure work meets specifications and industry standards.
  • Plan and schedule work, ensuring effective utilisation of plant, equipment, and materials.
  • Lead site meetings, toolbox talks, and inductions.
  • Manage site security and logistics and ensure environmental compliance.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Site Manager in the construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, health & safety regulations (e.g., CDM Regulations), and quality standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
  • Valid full UK Driving Licence.
  • CSCS Black Card (Manager).
  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme).
  • First Aid at Work certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant degree or HNC/HND in Construction Management or a related field.
  • Membership of a professional body (e.g., CIOB).
  • Experience with specific construction project types (e.g., commercial, residential, infrastructure).
  • Knowledge of Lean construction principles.
  • Temporary Works Coordinator certification.
