Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test firmware for embedded microcontrollers and microprocessors.
  • Debug and troubleshoot hardware and software issues on embedded platforms.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers to define system architecture, select components, and ensure seamless hardware-software integration.
  • Implement and optimize communication protocols (e.g., SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet, USB) for various embedded applications.
  • Develop drivers for peripherals such as sensors, displays, memory, and networking modules.
  • Perform code reviews, contribute to technical documentation, and maintain version control systems.
  • Participate in product validation and verification, including unit testing, integration testing, and system-level testing.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes, tools, and methodologies.
  • Analyze performance bottlenecks and implement optimizations for real-time constraints.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices in embedded systems design.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems development.
  • Strong understanding of microcontroller architectures (e.g., ARM Cortex-M/R, PIC, AVR).
  • Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) such as FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or similar.
  • Familiarity with hardware schematics, datasheets, and basic electronic lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers).
  • Experience with embedded debugging tools (JTAG/SWD debuggers).
  • Solid grasp of communication protocols like SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, USB, Ethernet.
  • Ability to work effectively in a Linux development environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with embedded Linux development and device drivers.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages like Python for automation and testing.
  • Familiarity with IoT technologies, wireless communication (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, LoRa), or sensor integration.
  • Experience with version control systems, particularly Git.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles for embedded devices.
  • Prior experience in agile development methodologies.
