Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily feeding and watering of poultry, ensuring proper nutrition and hydration.
  • Collect, sort, and pack eggs carefully according to farm standards, minimizing breakage.
  • Clean and sanitize poultry houses, coops, and all associated equipment regularly to maintain biosecurity.
  • Monitor bird health closely throughout the day, identifying and reporting any signs of illness, injury, or unusual behavior to supervisors.
  • Maintain accurate records of feed consumption, egg production, mortality rates, and other essential farm data.
  • Assist with vaccination programs and other animal health management protocols under supervision.
  • Operate and maintain farm machinery, tools, and equipment safely and effectively, including basic preventative maintenance.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all biosecurity measures, animal welfare guidelines, and health and safety regulations.
  • Participate in general farm maintenance tasks, including minor repairs, fencing, and upkeep of facilities.
  • Support the farm management team in various operational duties and special projects as required.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated physical stamina and ability to perform demanding manual labor for extended periods in varying weather conditions.
  • Capacity to work effectively and safely in typical farm environments, which may include dusty, noisy, or odorous conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and keen observation skills for monitoring bird health, behavior, and environment.
  • Basic understanding of animal handling principles and a genuine commitment to ethical animal treatment.
  • Proven reliability, punctuality, and a strong, proactive work ethic with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions precisely and work cohesively as part of a dedicated team.
  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills for accurate record-keeping and understanding operational instructions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 6 months of verifiable experience in poultry farming or general agricultural work.
  • Working knowledge of biosecurity protocols specific to poultry operations and disease prevention.
  • Basic First Aid certification or a willingness to obtain one soon after employment.
  • Valid Kenyan driver's license (Class B or equivalent) with a clean driving record.
  • High school diploma or equivalent educational background.
