Key Responsibilities
- Assess, treat, and manage patients with various cardiopulmonary diseases and disorders.
- Administer respiratory therapy treatments, including oxygen therapy, aerosol treatments, chest physiotherapy, and inhaled medications.
- Initiate, monitor, and manage mechanical ventilation, non-invasive ventilation, and advanced airway management.
- Perform diagnostic tests such as arterial blood gas analysis, pulmonary function testing, and spirometry.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
- Educate patients and their families on respiratory conditions, treatment plans, and self-management techniques.
- Respond to cardiopulmonary emergencies and assist with rapid response teams and codes.
- Maintain accurate and thorough patient documentation in electronic health records.
Required Skills
- Current RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) credential by the NBRC.
- Valid state Respiratory Therapist license in Pennsylvania.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification (or obtained within 6 months of hire).
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in administering a wide range of respiratory treatments and equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) and/or NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification.
- Experience in various clinical settings (e.g., ICU, ED, general medical-surgical floors).
- Familiarity with Epic or other major electronic health record systems.
