Key Responsibilities

  • Perform various welding processes, including MIG, TIG, and MMA, on a range of materials such as mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine layout, dimensions, and procedures.
  • Set up and operate welding equipment, selecting appropriate tools, electrodes, and gases.
  • Inspect finished welds for quality, structural integrity, and adherence to specifications, using various testing methods.
  • Fabricate, assemble, and repair metal structures and components according to project requirements.
  • Maintain welding equipment and ensure a clean and safe working environment.
  • Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
  • Collaborate with team members and other departments to ensure project deadlines and quality standards are met.
  • Identify and resolve issues related to welding processes and material defects.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and MMA welding techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Strong understanding of metal fabrication and structural assembly.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of various metal types and their welding properties.
  • Commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent in Welding and Fabrication.
  • CSCS Card or equivalent industry certification.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing, heavy industry, or construction environment.
  • Familiarity with quality control and inspection procedures (e.g., visual inspection, NDT basics).
  • Basic knowledge of British welding standards (e.g., BS EN ISO 9606).
