Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver engaging sports coaching sessions for students of varying ages and abilities, adhering to curriculum guidelines and safety standards.
  • Develop individual and team skills, focusing on fundamental movements, specific sport techniques, and strategic understanding.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive sporting environment that promotes sportsmanship, respect, and teamwork.
  • Assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and adapt coaching methods to meet individual and group needs.
  • Organize and supervise sports events, competitions, and extra-curricular activities.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants, including adherence to first aid protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain and manage sports equipment and facilities, reporting any issues promptly.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and other staff members regarding student performance, program details, and upcoming events.
  • Stay updated with best practices in sports coaching and child development, engaging in continuous professional development.

Required Skills

  • Level 2 Sports Coaching qualification (or equivalent) in at least one sport.
  • Proven experience coaching children and young adults (minimum 3 years).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire.
  • Strong understanding of child development and pedagogical principles.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations pertinent to sports activities.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Sports Science, Physical Education, or a related field.
  • Additional coaching qualifications in multiple sports disciplines.
  • Experience working in an educational institution or youth sports setting.
  • Experience with inclusive sports programs for students with diverse needs.
  • Safeguarding children certificate.
