Career.zycto is actively seeking experienced and dedicated Sheet Metal Workers to join our dynamic teams across various industrial projects in London, Ontario. This unique opportunity is specifically tailored for foreign skilled tradespersons looking to relocate and build a successful career in Canada. As a Sheet Metal Worker, you will play a crucial role in fabricating, assembling, installing, and repairing sheet metal products and structures. Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout requirements.
  • Measure, cut, bend, punch, and shear sheet metal using hand and power tools, as well as specialized machinery.
  • Fabricate and assemble sheet metal products such as ducts, control boxes, drainpipes, and other structural components.
  • Install and repair sheet metal products and systems in accordance with project specifications and safety standards.
  • Inspect product quality and installation to ensure adherence to codes, standards, and blueprints.
  • Operate welding equipment (e.g., MIG, TIG, stick) to join metal pieces as required.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and other tradespersons on job sites.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to sheet metal fabrication and installation.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings.
  • Demonstrated experience in measuring, cutting, bending, and shaping sheet metal.
  • Competence in using a variety of hand and power tools relevant to sheet metal fabrication.
  • Experience with various types of welding (e.g., MIG, TIG) for joining sheet metal components.
  • Strong understanding of sheet metal gauges, types, and properties.
  • Excellent spatial reasoning and mathematical skills for precise measurements.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to protocols.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical dexterity and ability to perform manual labour, including lifting heavy materials.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of a recognized sheet metal worker apprenticeship program or equivalent vocational training.
  • Valid trade certification (e.g., Red Seal Endorsement) is highly regarded but not always mandatory for international applicants with substantial experience.
  • Experience with CNC plasma cutters or other automated fabrication equipment.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications for record-keeping or accessing digital plans.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Prior experience working on large-scale commercial or industrial construction projects.
