Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for foreign students with special needs.
- Provide direct instruction and adapt general education curriculum to meet diverse learning styles and cultural backgrounds.
- Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
- Collaborate with parents, general education teachers, support staff, and external agencies to ensure holistic student support.
- Integrate culturally responsive teaching practices to foster an inclusive and welcoming classroom environment.
- Utilize assistive technologies and other resources to support student learning and engagement.
- Facilitate communication and understanding between foreign students, their families, and the school community.
- Participate in school-wide professional development, with a focus on special education and multiculturalism.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, progress, and services provided.
- Advocate for the academic and social-emotional needs of foreign students within the school system.
Required Skills
- Valid British Columbia Teaching Certificate with Special Education qualification.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing IEPs.
- Strong understanding of various special education methodologies and interventions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on cultural sensitivity.
- Proficiency in assessing student learning and adapting instructional materials.
