Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding.
- Monitor and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) accurately and report any changes to the nursing staff.
- Assist with patient mobility, transfers, and ambulation, ensuring patient safety at all times.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe patient environment.
- Document observations, care provided, and patient responses in the electronic health record (EHR) as directed.
- Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families.
- Assist with basic medical procedures under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse.
- Respond to patient call lights promptly and courteously.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
- Adhere to all facility policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to show empathy and compassion towards patients
- Reliability and punctuality
- Ability to follow instructions accurately
- Basic computer literacy for documentation
- Physical ability to stand, walk, lift, and assist patients as required
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous volunteer experience in a healthcare setting
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology
- Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program (not required, but a plus)
