Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the orthodontist chairside with various orthodontic procedures, including bonding, debonding, adjustments, and appliance placement.
  • Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize and organize instruments, and ensure all necessary equipment is ready for patient appointments.
  • Take, process, and mount dental radiographs (X-rays) and intraoral photographs.
  • Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, appliance care, and post-procedure instructions.
  • Take impressions and digital scans for diagnostic models and appliance fabrication.
  • Document patient information, treatment plans, and progress notes accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Manage and maintain inventory of orthodontic supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, making patients feel comfortable and informed throughout their visit.
  • Adhere strictly to infection control protocols and maintain a clean and organized clinical environment.
  • Assist with scheduling appointments and confirming patient visits as needed.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Dental Assistant, with a strong focus on orthodontics.
  • Current Dental Assistant certification in Colorado.
  • Radiology certification.
  • Proficiency in taking dental impressions and using digital scanning equipment.
  • Excellent knowledge of orthodontic instruments, materials, and procedures.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict sterilization and infection control standards.
  • Proficiency with dental software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree from an accredited dental assisting program.
  • Active membership in a professional dental assisting association (e.g., ADAA).
  • Experience with Invisalign or other clear aligner systems.
  • Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish) is a plus.
  • CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
