Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, compound, and dispense medications accurately under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Maintain meticulous inventory records, including ordering, receiving, and stocking pharmaceutical supplies.
  • Assist in the preparation of sterile and non-sterile products, adhering to strict aseptic techniques.
  • Process medication orders, ensuring correct labeling and packaging for distribution to various hospital units.
  • Operate and maintain pharmacy automation systems and equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding medication orders and patient needs.
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations, as well as hospital policies and procedures.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Assist with patient medication histories and medication reconciliation as needed.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Active Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) from a recognized credentialing body (e.g., PTCB or NHA).
  • Current Colorado Pharmacy Technician registration.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working as a Pharmacy Technician, preferably in a hospital or clinical setting.
  • Proficient in basic pharmaceutical calculations and medical terminology.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in medication preparation and dispensing.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Basic computer proficiency for data entry and pharmacy software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Experience with hospital-specific pharmacy information systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner).
  • Previous experience with automated dispensing cabinets (e.g., Pyxis, Omnicell).
  • Experience with sterile compounding (IV preparation).
  • Advanced certifications or specialized training in pharmacy practice.
