Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, compound, and dispense medications accurately under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Maintain meticulous inventory records, including ordering, receiving, and stocking pharmaceutical supplies.
- Assist in the preparation of sterile and non-sterile products, adhering to strict aseptic techniques.
- Process medication orders, ensuring correct labeling and packaging for distribution to various hospital units.
- Operate and maintain pharmacy automation systems and equipment.
- Communicate effectively with pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding medication orders and patient needs.
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations, as well as hospital policies and procedures.
- Participate in quality assurance activities and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Assist with patient medication histories and medication reconciliation as needed.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Active Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) from a recognized credentialing body (e.g., PTCB or NHA).
- Current Colorado Pharmacy Technician registration.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working as a Pharmacy Technician, preferably in a hospital or clinical setting.
- Proficient in basic pharmaceutical calculations and medical terminology.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in medication preparation and dispensing.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Basic computer proficiency for data entry and pharmacy software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Experience with hospital-specific pharmacy information systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner).
- Previous experience with automated dispensing cabinets (e.g., Pyxis, Omnicell).
- Experience with sterile compounding (IV preparation).
