As a Personal Support Worker, you will be at the heart of our service, providing essential daily living assistance, companionship, and emotional support to elderly individuals in their homes or within residential settings across Clifton and the wider York area. Your role will be crucial in helping our clients maintain their dignity, comfort, and quality of life. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, maintaining their dignity and privacy.
  • Support clients with mobility and transfers, using appropriate equipment and techniques safely.
  • Prepare and serve nutritious meals, assisting with feeding if necessary, and ensuring dietary requirements are met.
  • Administer prescribed medications following established protocols and accurately document dosages.
  • Perform light housekeeping duties, including tidying living areas, laundry, and maintaining a clean and safe environment.
  • Provide companionship and engage clients in stimulating activities, fostering mental and emotional well-being.
  • Monitor and report changes in clients' health, behaviour, or well-being to supervisory staff.
  • Assist with grocery shopping and errands as required, promoting client independence.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of care provided, observations, and incidents.
  • Adhere strictly to all health and safety guidelines, company policies, and care plans.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in a caregiving role, preferably with elderly individuals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with empathy and patience.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong observational and reporting skills.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Basic first aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Understanding of confidentiality and professional boundaries.
  • Ability to perform duties requiring physical stamina and mobility.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience with individuals with dementia, Alzheimer's, or other age-related conditions.
  • Valid UK driving license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Proficiency in additional languages (desirable but not essential).
