Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Surgical Technologist to join an elite operating room team in Lakeville, Minnesota. This full-time position offers an exceptional opportunity to play a critical role in a dynamic surgical environment, supporting a wide range of surgical procedures. As a Surgical Technologist, you will be instrumental in ensuring patient safety, maintaining sterile fields, and providing essential assistance to surgeons and registered nurses during operations. You will be responsible for preparing the operating room, sterilizing and organizing surgical instruments, anticipating the needs of the surgical team, and handing instruments and supplies to the surgeon. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain the sterile field during surgical procedures.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team by passing instruments, supplies, and equipment.
- Assist with draping the patient and the sterile field.
- Monitor and maintain the integrity, safety, and efficiency of the sterile field throughout the operation.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments with the circulating nurse before, during, and after surgery.
- Prepare operating room for surgery by setting up sterile tables with instruments, supplies, and equipment.
- Perform surgical scrub, gowning, and gloving procedures.
- Handle specimens as directed by the surgeon.
- Assist in the application of dressings, casts, and other postoperative devices.
- Ensure proper care and handling of surgical instruments and equipment post-procedure.
Required Skills
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
- Current BLS certification.
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and sterile techniques.
- Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to anticipate surgeon's needs and react quickly.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Commitment to patient safety and quality care.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
