Job Description

Career.zycto is on the lookout for a dynamic and engaging Master of Ceremonies and Host to join our part-time team in Whitehorse, Yukon. If you possess a natural flair for public speaking, a captivating stage presence, and the ability to command attention while fostering a welcoming atmosphere, we want to hear from you. This role is pivotal in setting the tone for our diverse range of professional development workshops, networking events, career fairs, and community gatherings.

As an MC and Host, you will be the face and voice of our events, responsible for guiding attendees through programs, introducing speakers, facilitating interactive sessions, and ensuring seamless transitions. Your ability to think on your feet, adapt to unforeseen circumstances, and energize an audience will be crucial. We are seeking someone who can not only stick to a script but also infuse their personality, wit, and charisma into every interaction, making each event unique and memorable. You will work closely with our event coordination team to understand event objectives, speaker profiles, and audience demographics, ensuring your delivery aligns perfectly with our brand’s mission of fostering professional growth and community engagement. Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary host and Master of Ceremonies for various Career.zycto events, including workshops, seminars, career fairs, and networking functions.
  • Engage and interact with audiences, creating a welcoming and energetic atmosphere.
  • Introduce speakers, panelists, and performers with enthusiasm and professionalism.
  • Manage event timelines and facilitate smooth transitions between segments.
  • Read scripts and ad-lib commentary effectively, adapting to the flow of the event.
  • Conduct Q&A sessions, interviews, and interactive segments with confidence.
  • Work collaboratively with event organizers, technical staff, and speakers to ensure seamless event execution.
  • Handle unforeseen circumstances gracefully and maintain a positive demeanor under pressure.
  • Promote Career.zycto's mission and values throughout the event.
  • Gather audience feedback and insights as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as an MC, host, facilitator, or public speaker in professional or corporate settings.
  • Experience with virtual event hosting platforms (e.g., Zoom, Teams) in addition to in-person events.
  • Knowledge of career development trends and professional networking best practices.
  • Local knowledge of the Whitehorse community and professional landscape.
  • Post-secondary education in Communications, Marketing, Performing Arts, or a related field.
