Key Responsibilities
- Prepare drywall surfaces by cleaning, sanding, and filling cracks/holes before taping.
- Accurately measure, cut, and apply drywall tape to seams, joints, and corners.
- Mix and apply multiple coats of joint compound (mud) over tape and fastener heads, ensuring smooth and consistent coverage.
- Feather out edges of joint compound to create seamless transitions and blend with existing surfaces.
- Sand and smooth finished surfaces meticulously to achieve a flawless, paint-ready finish.
- Inspect completed work for imperfections, ensuring all finishes meet high-quality standards and project specifications.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, strictly adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine project requirements and material needs.
- Collaborate effectively with site managers, supervisors, and other construction team members.
- Operate and maintain a variety of hand and power tools specific to drywall taping and finishing.
Required Skills
- Proven expertise (minimum 2 years) in drywall taping and finishing techniques.
- Proficiency in applying tape and joint compound to various types of drywall.
- Expert use of taping tools including trowels, knives, stilts, and sanding equipment.
- Thorough understanding of different types of joint compounds and their application methods.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a keen eye for achieving a smooth, seamless finish.
- Strong physical stamina and dexterity, including the ability to lift heavy materials and work overhead.
- Solid knowledge of construction site health and safety procedures.
- Ability to work efficiently and independently while maintaining high standards of quality.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 in Plastering or Drylining (or equivalent vocational qualification).
- Valid CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card.
- Previous experience working on diverse residential and commercial construction projects.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a larger construction team.
- Full UK driving license with access to own transport.
