Job Description

Career.zycto is actively seeking highly skilled and dedicated Class 1 HGV Drivers to join our expanding team in Halesowen, Birmingham. This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced professionals to contribute to a critical part of the UK’s logistics network. As an HGV Driver with Career.zycto, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely transportation of goods to various destinations across the region and potentially further afield. You’ll operate modern, well-maintained vehicles, ensuring all deliveries meet strict deadlines and customer expectations. Your role will involve careful loading and unloading procedures, completing essential delivery paperwork, conducting thorough vehicle checks, and maintaining clear communication with our dispatch team. Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate Class 1 Heavy Goods Vehicles, adhering to all road traffic laws and company policies.
  • Conduct pre-departure and post-journey vehicle inspections, reporting any defects promptly.
  • Plan and execute efficient delivery routes, managing time effectively to meet scheduled appointments.
  • Securely load and unload goods, ensuring cargo is correctly distributed and restrained.
  • Complete all necessary delivery documentation accurately, including manifests, proof of delivery, and tachograph records.
  • Maintain clear and professional communication with the dispatch team, clients, and colleagues.
  • Represent Career.zycto with a high level of professionalism and excellent customer service at all times.
  • Ensure compliance with Working Time Directive (WTD) regulations and digital tachograph use.

Required Skills

  • Valid UK Class 1 (Category C+E) HGV Driving Licence.
  • Full Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC).
  • Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
  • Minimum of 2 years recent Class 1 HGV driving experience.
  • No more than 6 points on your driving licence (for minor offences).
  • Excellent knowledge of driving regulations, WTD, and tachograph laws.
  • Strong geographical knowledge of the UK road network, particularly the West Midlands.
  • Demonstrable commitment to vehicle safety and operational procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible attitude.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with various types of trailers (e.g., curtainsiders, box trailers).
  • Additional licences such as ADR (hazardous goods) or Moffett (forklift mounted to vehicle).
  • Proven track record of maintaining high standards of vehicle cleanliness and presentation.
  • Familiarity with telematics systems and route optimisation software.
