Job Description
Career.zycto is urgently seeking a highly skilled and reliable Forklift Operator to join our dedicated night shift team in Dagoretti, Nairobi. This is a critical role that ensures the smooth and efficient movement of goods within our warehouse and loading docks. As a Night Shift Forklift Operator, you will be responsible for operating various types of forklifts (reach trucks, counterbalances) to load, unload, stack, and move products and materials with precision and care. Your ability to work independently, maintain focus, and adhere strictly to safety protocols during the night hours is paramount. Key Responsibilities
- Operate forklifts (reach truck, counterbalance) safely and efficiently to load, unload, move, stack, and stage products and materials.
- Perform daily pre-shift inspections of forklifts and other equipment, reporting any defects or issues promptly.
- Accurately record and document all incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring proper inventory management.
- Safely transport goods to designated areas within the warehouse, ensuring proper stacking and storage.
- Adhere to all safety regulations, company policies, and procedures, particularly those related to night shift operations.
- Assist with general warehouse duties, including cleaning and organizing the work area, as needed.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding operational status and potential issues.
- Ensure timely completion of tasks to meet production and distribution deadlines.
Required Skills
- Valid Forklift Operator certification (e.g., NTSA or equivalent)
- Proven experience operating counterbalance and/or reach trucks
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety procedures and practices
- Ability to read and interpret shipping labels and inventory documentation
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness
- Physical stamina to lift heavy objects and stand for extended periods
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills for inventory management
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working night shifts in a logistics or manufacturing setting
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS)
- Ability to perform minor maintenance checks on forklifts
- High school diploma or equivalent
