Job Description
We are actively seeking a skilled and highly motivated Forklift Driver to join our dynamic shipping team in Godalming, Surrey, for immediate hiring. As a crucial member of our logistics operation, you will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of goods within our warehouse and for outbound shipments. Key Responsibilities
- Operate counterbalance and reach forklift trucks safely and efficiently to move, stack, and retrieve materials and products.
- Load and unload lorries, vans, and containers with incoming and outgoing goods, ensuring accurate documentation and proper handling.
- Perform daily forklift inspections and report any maintenance issues promptly to ensure safe operation.
- Assist with the accurate picking, packing, and dispatch of orders, ensuring all items are correctly identified and prepared for shipment.
- Manage and organize inventory within the warehouse, including stock rotation and maintaining clear aisles and storage areas.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations, company policies, and best practices at all times.
- Collaborate effectively with team members across different departments to meet daily shipping targets and operational deadlines.
Required Skills
- Valid and in-date Forklift Operator's License (Counterbalance and/or Reach Truck).
- Minimum of 18 months proven experience operating forklifts in a busy warehouse or shipping environment.
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety procedures and manual handling techniques.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in managing inventory and shipments.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Physical capability to perform duties that may involve lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or similar inventory software.
- Additional forklift licenses (e.g., VNA, PPT) would be a plus.
- Previous experience in a dedicated shipping department or logistics hub.
- First Aid qualification.
