Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain a variety of hand and power tools safely and efficiently in an underground setting.
- Assist skilled tradespersons and miners in drilling, blasting, mucking, and scaling operations.
- Load, unload, and move materials, equipment, and supplies manually or with mechanical assistance.
- Perform general labouring duties such as shovelling, sweeping, cleaning sumps, and maintaining clear pathways.
- Monitor equipment and working areas for potential hazards and report any safety concerns immediately.
- Install and maintain ground support systems, including rock bolts, screens, and shotcrete application.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Participate in regular safety meetings and training sessions to enhance awareness and skills.
- Contribute to a positive and productive team environment, communicating effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a physically demanding role, preferably in mining, heavy construction, or industrial environments.
- Strong understanding and commitment to workplace safety procedures and practices.
- Ability to work effectively in confined spaces, at heights, and in varying environmental conditions (dust, noise, temperature fluctuations).
- Excellent physical fitness and stamina to perform manual labour tasks over extended periods.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for operating and maintaining tools and equipment.
