Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical malfunctions using appropriate testing devices.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams to determine wiring layouts and specifications.
- Ensure all electrical work is performed in strict accordance with national and local electrical codes (e.g., KEBS standards, ERC regulations) and stringent safety protocols.
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on electrical systems to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
- Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other electrical components safely and efficiently.
- Install and connect power supply wiring, cables, conduit, and electrical apparatus for various applications.
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support to junior team members or apprentices as needed.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of work performed, materials used, and equipment serviced for compliance and future reference.
- Respond promptly to emergency electrical calls and perform necessary repairs under pressure.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a licensed Electrician, demonstrating a strong track record of successful project completion.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, wiring methods, components, and circuitry.
- Proficiency in using a wide range of electrical testing equipment, including multimeters, ohmmeters, and oscilloscopes.
- Strong understanding and adherence to electrical safety procedures, regulations, and best practices.
- Ability to accurately read, interpret, and work from technical diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.
- Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills to quickly identify and resolve complex electrical issues.
- Physical stamina and dexterity required for manual tasks, including lifting, bending, and working in various environments.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant technical diploma or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
- NITA (National Industrial Training Authority) certification in Electrical Installation.
- Demonstrable experience with industrial electrical systems, control panels, and machinery.
- First Aid and Basic Firefighting certification.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
