Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level SOC Monitoring Assistant to join our growing Security Operations Center (SOC) team in Kingston, Jamaica. Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor security information and event management (SIEM) systems and other security tools for alerts, incidents, and potential threats.
  • Perform initial triage and investigation of security alerts to determine their severity and authenticity.
  • Document security incidents thoroughly, including steps taken, analysis, and escalation points.
  • Escalate confirmed security incidents to senior SOC analysts or incident response teams as per established protocols.
  • Assist in the development and refinement of security monitoring procedures and playbooks.
  • Support senior analysts with ad-hoc security tasks and projects as needed.
  • Stay informed about the latest cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and industry best practices through continuous learning.
  • Participate in regular team meetings and training sessions to enhance technical skills and knowledge.

Required Skills

  • Basic understanding of IT infrastructure, networking, and operating systems (Windows, Linux).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and security concepts.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information securely.
  • Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field (or currently pursuing).
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+.
  • Familiarity with security frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001) is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of common attack vectors and mitigation strategies.
  • Prior exposure to SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, QRadar, ELK Stack) through academic projects or personal interest.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP, network protocols, and general networking concepts.
