Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to standard recipes and guest preferences.
- Engage with guests in a friendly, professional, and knowledgeable manner, recommending drinks and ensuring a positive experience.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar area, including glassware, garnishes, and ingredients throughout the shift.
- Accurately process orders and payments using POS systems and handle cash transactions with integrity.
- Monitor guest alcohol consumption and adhere strictly to responsible service practices, including refusing service to intoxicated patrons.
- Perform opening and closing duties, including cash handling, inventory checks, liquor requisition, and thorough cleaning tasks.
- Collaborate effectively with other staff members (servers, kitchen staff) to ensure smooth service flow and guest satisfaction.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines, as well as local and national liquor licensing laws and regulations.
- Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and special requests promptly and professionally, striving for positive resolutions.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Bartender, preferably with 1-2 years in a night-time or high-volume hospitality setting.
- Extensive knowledge of drink recipes, mixing techniques, and standard bar equipment.
- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Strong multi-tasking and organizational abilities with excellent attention to detail.
- Basic math skills and proficiency in using Point of Sale (POS) systems.
- Flexibility to work evening, night, weekend, and holiday shifts.
- Must be at least 18 years old (legal drinking age in Kenya).
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification from a recognized bartending school or culinary institute.
- Proficiency in advanced mixology and creative cocktail design.
- Up-to-date knowledge of local and international beverage trends.
- Ability to speak Swahili fluently in addition to English.
- Experience with inventory management and stock rotation procedures.
- First Aid and CPR certification (advantageous for public-facing roles).
