Key Responsibilities

  • Assist lead educators in planning and implementing daily educational and recreational activities.
  • Supervise children during indoor and outdoor play, ensuring their safety and engagement.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and stimulating learning environment conducive to child development.
  • Support children with personal care routines, including feeding, toileting, and napping.
  • Observe and accurately document children's development, behaviour, and progress under the guidance of lead educators.
  • Foster positive and respectful relationships with children, their families, and colleagues.
  • Actively participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
  • Assist with classroom setup, tidying, and preparation of learning materials and resources.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and safeguarding regulations and policies.
  • Engage children in educational, age-appropriate play and learning experiences.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding children's daily activities and progress.

Required Skills

  • Genuine passion for working with young children (ages 0-5).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
  • Patience, empathy, and a nurturing, child-centred approach.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a dedicated team.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a strong, proactive work ethic.
  • Basic understanding of child development principles or a strong willingness to learn.
  • Ability to follow instructions diligently and take initiative when appropriate.
  • Legal right to work in the United Kingdom.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred Qualifications

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
  • A Level 1 or Level 2 qualification in Early Years Education or Childcare (e.g., CACHE Level 1/2 Diploma).
  • Previous volunteer or paid work experience with children in any setting (e.g., babysitting, youth groups, school placements).
  • Paediatric First Aid certification or willingness to obtain one.
  • Familiarity with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
