Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive digital forensic investigations on a variety of platforms including desktops, servers, mobile devices, and cloud environments.
- Utilize industry-standard forensic tools (e.g., EnCase, FTK, X-Ways, Autopsy) to acquire, preserve, and analyze digital evidence.
- Perform malware analysis and reverse engineering to understand threat actor tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs).
- Identify, collect, and document digital artifacts, logs, and network traffic for evidence reconstruction.
- Develop detailed forensic reports and provide expert testimony or clear technical explanations to non-technical audiences.
- Assist in incident response activities, providing rapid analysis and containment strategies during active breaches.
- Stay current with the latest cybersecurity threats, forensic techniques, and legal requirements pertaining to digital evidence.
- Collaborate with legal teams, law enforcement, and other stakeholders to ensure proper handling and chain of custody of evidence.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of forensic methodologies, tools, and processes.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in digital forensics and incident response (DFIR).
- Strong understanding of operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS), file systems, and networking protocols.
- Proficiency with forensic acquisition and analysis tools (e.g., EnCase, FTK Imager, Wireshark, Volatility).
- Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation and data analysis.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to articulate complex technical information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
- Understanding of legal and regulatory requirements related to digital evidence (e.g., GDPR, PACE).
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in a high-pressure environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Digital Forensics, or a related field.
- Industry certifications such as GCFE, GCFA, GNFA, CISSP, or EnCE.
- Experience with cloud forensics (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerized environments.
- Familiarity with e-discovery processes and tools.
- Experience in reverse engineering malware or analyzing sophisticated attack techniques.
