Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage all on-site construction activities from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to project specifications, drawings, and quality standards.
- Develop and implement daily and weekly work schedules, allocate resources effectively, and monitor progress against the project timeline.
- Enforce strict health and safety regulations on site, conduct regular safety briefings, risk assessments, and ensure all personnel comply with safety procedures and use appropriate PPE.
- Manage and coordinate sub-contractors, suppliers, and site personnel, ensuring efficient workflow and productivity.
- Conduct quality control inspections, identify non-conformances, and implement corrective actions to maintain high construction standards.
- Maintain accurate site records, including daily diaries, progress reports, material usage, and labor attendance.
- Identify potential issues or delays and implement proactive solutions to mitigate risks and keep the project on track.
- Liaise effectively with project managers, engineers, clients, and other stakeholders, providing regular updates on site progress and challenges.
- Oversee the proper storage, handling, and usage of materials and equipment on site.
- Motivate, mentor, and provide constructive feedback to the site team to enhance performance and foster a positive working environment.
Required Skills
- Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Building Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of proven experience as a Site Supervisor in the construction industry, preferably in building or infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations, including health and safety standards.
- Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural and engineering drawings.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Valid driving license and ability to commute to various site locations.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certification in Project Management or Construction Management.
- Experience with construction management software (e.g., MS Project, AutoCAD).
- First Aid and Safety Officer certification.
- Knowledge of local planning and building codes in Kenya.
- Fluency in both English and Swahili.
