Key Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a variety of treatment procedures, including restorative, surgical, and cosmetic treatments.
- Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment in accordance with stringent infection control protocols.
- Take and develop high-quality dental radiographs (X-rays) while adhering to radiation safety guidelines.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, updating medical histories as necessary.
- Provide patients with clear pre- and post-operative instructions and comprehensive oral health education.
- Manage and monitor inventory of dental supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels and ordering as needed.
- Ensure cleanliness, tidiness, and preparation of treatment rooms before, during, and after patient appointments.
- Support front desk operations when required, including scheduling appointments and managing patient queries.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including cross-infection control and waste management.
Required Skills
- General Dental Council (GDC) registration as a Dental Nurse.
- Qualified Dental Nurse/Assistant with relevant certifications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in dental software systems (e.g., SOE Exact, Dentally).
- Strong organizational abilities and capacity for multitasking in a busy environment.
- In-depth knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and instruments.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and empathetic with patients, especially those who are anxious.
- Commitment to patient confidentiality and data protection.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with specialist dental procedures (e.g., orthodontics, implants, endodontics).
- Radiography qualification/certificate.
- First Aid certification.
- Additional certifications in dental nursing specialties or expanded duties.
