Job Description
Are you a passionate coffee enthusiast with a flair for customer service? Java House in Kasarani, Nairobi, is seeking a talented and energetic Barista to join our bustling team. As a Barista, you will be the heart of our coffee shop, responsible for crafting exquisite beverages and ensuring every customer’s visit is a memorable one. You will master the art of coffee preparation, from perfectly pulled espresso shots to beautifully frothed milk for lattes and cappuccinos. Beyond the brew, you will engage with customers, take orders with a friendly smile, handle transactions efficiently, and maintain a pristine and welcoming environment. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a wide range of coffee, tea, and other beverages according to Java House's recipes and quality standards.
- Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and other coffee equipment, ensuring they are always clean and in excellent working condition.
- Greet customers warmly, take orders accurately, and process payments using the POS system.
- Provide exceptional customer service, addressing inquiries, offering recommendations, and resolving any concerns with a positive attitude.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting coffee bar area, including seating areas and restrooms, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- Monitor and replenish coffee beans, milk, syrups, pastries, and other supplies as needed.
- Perform opening and closing duties, including cash reconciliation, cleaning, and securing the premises.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure smooth operations and a positive work environment.
- Uphold Java House's brand image and values through professional conduct and presentation.
- Assist with inventory management and stock rotation.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a barista or in a similar food and beverage service role
- Knowledge of different coffee types, brewing methods, and latte art
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Food handler's permit/certificate
