Key Responsibilities
- Process payroll for all employees accurately and on time, including salaries, wages, bonuses, and commissions.
- Manage new employee setup, changes to existing records, and processing of leavers within the payroll system.
- Calculate and process statutory deductions such as PAYE, National Insurance, sick pay, maternity/paternity pay, and other voluntary deductions.
- Reconcile payroll data and reports, identifying and resolving discrepancies promptly.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll records, ensuring confidentiality and data protection compliance.
- Assist with month-end and year-end payroll procedures, including P60s and P45s.
- Respond to employee queries regarding payroll matters in a professional and timely manner.
- Stay updated with changes in payroll legislation and ensure company compliance.
- Collaborate with HR and finance teams to ensure seamless information flow and data integrity.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Payroll Clerk or in a similar payroll position (minimum 2 years).
- Solid understanding of UK payroll legislation, including PAYE and National Insurance.
- Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., Sage Payroll, Xero Payroll, QuickBooks Payroll).
- Strong numerical aptitude and exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
- A recognized payroll qualification (e.g., CIPP foundation degree or equivalent).
- Experience working in a part-time capacity previously.
- Familiarity with HR information systems (HRIS).
