Key Responsibilities
- Operate Class 1 HGV vehicles safely and efficiently on regional and national routes.
- Conduct thorough pre-journey vehicle inspections and report any defects promptly.
- Ensure timely and secure delivery of goods, adhering to schedules and client requirements.
- Manage vehicle loads, ensuring proper weight distribution and securement according to safety standards.
- Maintain accurate digital tachograph records and comply with all driving hours regulations and working time directives.
- Communicate effectively with the transport office regarding delays, issues, or route changes.
- Adhere to all road safety regulations, company policies, and customer site rules.
- Complete necessary paperwork and electronic logs accurately and promptly.
- Represent Career.zycto professionally at all times while on duty and interacting with clients and the public.
Required Skills
- Valid Class 1 (Category CE) HGV Driving License.
- Valid Driver Qualification Card (DQC) / CPC.
- Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) experience driving Class 1 vehicles.
- No more than 6 penalty points on your license (for minor offences only, no active disqualifications).
- Excellent understanding of driver hours regulations and working time directive.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including loading/unloading assistance when required.
- Proof of right to work in the UK.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with curtain-sided trailers.
- Knowledge of multi-drop deliveries and route optimisation.
- Additional licenses or endorsements (e.g., ADR for dangerous goods, although not essential for this role).
- Familiarity with modern tracking and navigation systems.
