Key Responsibilities
- Operate company vehicles (vans, light trucks) safely and efficiently on assigned routes in Cordova and surrounding areas.
- Load, unload, and properly secure products for transport, ensuring accurate delivery to customers.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, manifest records, and vehicle inspection reports (pre-trip and post-trip).
- Provide exceptional customer service during deliveries, handling inquiries and resolving minor issues professionally.
- Perform routine vehicle inspections and communicate any maintenance needs promptly.
- Manage time effectively to meet delivery schedules and deadlines.
- Handle payment collection and paperwork as required for specific deliveries.
- Navigate routes using GPS and local knowledge, adapting to weather and road conditions.
Required Skills
- Valid Class D Driver's License (or equivalent) with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 1 year (12 months) of professional driving experience, preferably in a route-based role.
- Strong geographical knowledge of Cordova, Alaska, or proven ability to quickly learn new routes.
- Ability to lift and move packages weighing up to 50 lbs consistently throughout the day.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for customer interaction.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for minor vehicle checks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating various types of delivery vehicles (vans, box trucks).
- Familiarity with handheld delivery devices and logistics software.
