Key Responsibilities
- Prepare examination rooms and sterilize medical instruments according to established protocols.
- Take and accurately record patient vital signs, medical histories, and chief complaints.
- Assist physicians during examinations, treatments, and minor surgical procedures.
- Administer medications as directed by a physician and according to state regulations, ensuring proper documentation.
- Perform basic lab tests, phlebotomy, and specimen collection (if certified/trained and within scope of practice).
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments, manage patient flow, and process referrals efficiently.
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date patient electronic health records (EHR).
- Provide patient education regarding medications, diet, post-procedure care, and other health information.
- Answer patient calls, address inquiries, and relay messages to medical staff promptly and professionally.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and stock of the clinic environment and examination rooms.
Required Skills
- Medical Assistant certification from an accredited program.
- Proficiency in taking vital signs, medical histories, and preparing patients for examinations.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, basic anatomy, and physiology.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on patient interaction.
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems; familiarity with common platforms a plus.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize effectively, and work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Compassionate, empathetic, and patient-centered approach to care.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR certification.
